Snow Short Writing

Between classes the campus is at its most still. Bearing the much-anticipated Nor'easter, the snow has settled and ornaments the bare brick buildings. Tuning into the winter air, I hear distant birdsong carried by the frigid, unforgiving air. The barren, grey sky holds no promise of sun or warmth. Yet with all the harshness that comes with winter, peace can still be found in the sleepy birch trees and stale snow banks. Despite its unwelcoming conditions, winter has always given me a sense of comfort. Maybe nostalgia is at play, or simply the effortless beauty of the snow. My favorite part about a snow storm is how still everything is after the storm has passed. You can feel the stillness in the air, the trees, and the blanket of snow draped across landscape.
