A Place to Stand - Jimmy Santiago Baca

"A Place to Stand" by Jimmy Santiago Baca is probably my favorite creative non-fiction work ever. It's an autobiography and I read it when I was a lot younger and living on the border of Texas, where the author also spent his childhood. I think the reason why I enjoy it so much and still re-read it every couple of years is because of his exciting life story and also his ability to describe environments and situations in ways that aren't very wordy yet still breathe a lot of life into the imagination I think, and at least for me it left a lot of imagery in my head that I can still recall now. I find it really cool when a book does that.
